1. Nearby Attractions and Notable Folks
Herb'n'Ewe
Herb'n'Ewe is a fantastic place about 10 miles south of us on Route 40 just east of Brownsville.  They have a beatiful view as you approach them from the east going west where the Appalachain Plateau peters out into rolling and very nearly flat farmland all the way to Denver Colorado.  Please, if you have the time during a visit to us, stop in here on your way out or back.
Alan Cottrill Sculpture Studio
17,000 sf  of a sculpture studio in beautiful downtown Zanesville where you can see the artist and his assistants at work.  Hundreds of bronze works, terra cotta and plaster pieces.  Educational Displays, Mold making, Wax Casting and More
the Wilds

The Wilds is a Zoo and Preserve for endangered species.  These animals find a home now on a huge tract of rolling and reclaimed coal strip mine .  It looks like the Sarenghetti in Ohio!  Check this place out, because the news report that the Wilds has 'turned the corner'...it is achieving its goal to become self sufficient, and to provide a place for the public to see priceless treasures, and with this income, to subsidize the work of helping these endangered animals to repopulate themselves, looking forward to the day when they can 'go home', much like the ancient Israelietes did when they crossed the Red Sea.  Definitely A GREAT PLACE for a family visit...

The Works: Center for History, Art and Technology

Here is another fantastic cultural treasure in Zanesville's rival to the West, Newark Ohio, where our Architectural firm is located.  Howard LeFevre, who's vision this was and is, commissioned us to do the architectural designs for the incubator facilities on a city block at 2nd Street in Newark.  As a result, we became members and because the Works is a Smithsonian affiliate, we have free tickets with our membership to visit other Smithsonian affiliate museums.  This place even has a cafe!  Check this link for fun things to do, especially for the kids...

Fioriware Art Pottery

Maddie and Howard Peller's fine craftsmanship sold here.  Note too how the ceramic beauty they create find expression in architectural elements in and around the store on 4th and Main in downtown Zanesville.  Absolutely worth the visit.

Zanesville Art Center
A fantastic regional art center, one of the five best small city museums in Ohio.  Of course, to toot my own horn, the renovation and addition is my design, at my architectural firm, HRJL Architects, Inc.  These folks hardly ever change their website, but they have a GREAT building and wonderful art.  This is well worth your time to visit, and something you ought to stop by at if you plan to go east from our place
Hot Air Balloon Rides at "Dreams Come True"

Hot Air Balloon Rides!  Unique hot air balloon products also, including awards, gifts, and promotional activities.   These folks are in Strasburg, which is about an hour or so northeast of us on interstate 77.

But, perhaps the folks at 'Dreams Come True' will bring a balloon down to the Flint Ridge Vineyard one weekend and launch from the top of our hill and sail around the vineyard, Dillon Lake and other nearby sights!  Working on this...

Stockport Mill Country Inn, Stockport OH

A restored inn at a mill on the Muskingum River about 45 minutes south of us.  This is worth the trip, folks.  Stockport and Mcconnellsville are wonderful river towns on the muskingum and full of treasures, and stockport mill inn and restaurant outdoes them all!

Hanover House Bed and Breakfast, Hanover OH
Colonel Taylor Inn Bed and Breakfast, Cambridge OH
The Inn at Dresden
This Inn was once the house of David Longaberger, founder of the Longaberger Basket Company.   The views from this inn are simply unbelievable, and there is an internal loggia with bistro seating right as you enter, where you can eat right IN the view.   Wonderful themed rooms with sumptuous accommodations.
'Appalachian Abbey B & B' at Flint Ridge Vineyard

The Bed and Breakfast "Appalachian Abbey" is right down the hill from our Winery. Kathy is a poetess, a fowler, a trainer of parrots, and Mike is a working Artist, Teacher, and Inspirer...They have a variety of rooms, and a wonderful place.  Mike and Kathy own and operate this facility separately from our Winery.  Hospitality is their special gift, and they will regale you in a manner wholly consistent with the creativity and grace that just seems to ooze from them...

The Bed and Breakfast is independently owned and operated by Mike and Kathy.  They also host hunters in the fall, and conduct weddings in the vineyard.  Mike also hosts an Art Conference for interested folks in the summer at our farm...

Jay Stock, Photographer
Magnificent photography by Mr. Jay Stock of Martin's Ferry, Ohio.
HRJL Architects, Inc.

This is Carl's Architectural Firm.  They have moved their office into a historic building in Newark, Ohio, at 38 South Third Street.  This is a block south of the Square in Newark, and Carl thinks he's gone from the Wasteland of seas and seas of (empty) parking lots over to oceans and oceans of empty parking lots south of their building.  You have to see the restoration they did for $25K!

OH, BTW, if you pay close attention to the 'architecture' of the winery and Carl's home....well, if it is attractive to you, he can tell you how to reproduce your own version of this place.,...hopefully you have a HUGE pile of stone somewhere
