| Here
you go. A mobile cabin, a LOG cabin on wheels, delivered to
Poplar Hollow? I understand I can have this one from Complete
Homes in Glouster Ohio for $18K. Hmm....
How many folks would rend this for a weekend at $350 for a
weekend's stay? Right there on the edge of the Hollow, with the
vineyard up above them to their back? Well...
I met Wulf Reinecke here at 'Complete Homes' in
Glouster, Ohio, eating lunch with 'Complete's' staff. I was
asking about the construction of the 'log home', specifically insulation
qualities. Wulf spoke in defense of the construction of the
unit...the pine used for the walls has the most 'open' cell structure of
any wood available for this cabin-on-wheels, and the best insulation of
any wood used likewise in a log cabin design.
Wulf had a bit of an accent, and when I asked him about it,
others piped in (he's quite modest about himself...) that he was the
EAST German kayak champion OF THE WORLD in 1971. AMAZING!!
So, probing further, he said he'd come to the US in 1981...he'd defected
from the German Socialist Worker's Paradise to come to, of all places,
"Appalachia", in order to find liberty and his own bit of the American
Dream.
Like I say, Our Place here in Southeastern Ohio is FULL of amazing, accomplished People... |
